Indian Navy’s frontline frigate, INS Tabar wraps up a three-day goodwill visit to Alexandria tomorrow.

Arriving in Alexandria on Friday, the ship was received by Group Captain Udayan Kumar, Indian Defence Attaché to Egypt, along with the Egyptian Navy personnel, with full honours.

The visit is part of the ship’s ongoing deployment to several countries in Africa and Europe, according to a press release by the Indian Embassy in Cairo.

The INS Tabarvisit to the Alexandria aims to strengthen the strong relations between India and Egypt and also to explore fresh avenues of bolstering ties through operational engagements.

The two countries have enjoyed warm and strong bilateral relations that include long standing ties between the two Navies.

INS Tabar has a complement of over 300 personnel and is one of the earliest stealth frigates of the Indian Navy.

Ambassador of India to Egypt Ajit Vinayak Gupte was accorded a warm welcome on-board and thereafter a tour of the warship was conducted wherein he was familiarised with its lethal operational capabilities and roles by Captain Mahesh Mangipudi.

During the three day stay at the Alexandria port, the ship’s crew undertook numerous professional interactions and exchange visits with the Egyptian Navy.  In addition, the two Navies undertook an advanced maritime partnership exercise at sea.

The operational engagements aim to strengthen combat procedures and to widen the scope of interoperability that will support combined operations against common maritime threats.
