The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Enany and the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat have met with senior officials from the two ministries. The aim was to monitor the progress achieved in projects implemented within the co-operation protocol signed by the two ministries last November, ensure that work is proceeding according to the set time frame, and overcome the hurdles impeding the completion of work.

The meeting tackled several topics aimed at harnessing modern technology to advance the tourism sector. Topics included employing technology to promote Egyptian tourism and antiquities and introducing tourists to tourist attractions and museums through creating virtual tours.

The two sides considered the possibility of connecting 40 tourist attractions and museums to the Internet to improve the quality of services provided to Egyptian visitors and tourists. They also discussed the progress made in automating services at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters and upgrading its technological infrastructure. This comes within the framework of co-operation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the state sectors to build Digital Egypt.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Minister of Tourism for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby, the Deputy ICT Minister for Infrastructure Raafat Hindy, the Executive Director of the Egyptian Tourism Federation, the Assistant ICT Minister for Information Infrastructure, the Assistant Minister of Tourism to Control Tourist Facilities, the Assistant Minister of Tourism for Technical Affairs, and senior officials from the two ministries.
