Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States Haifa abu Ghazala lauded the initiative presented to the Economic and Social Council (ESC) of the Arab League to prepare general principles to unify measures of registering for and approving vaccines among the Arab countries to effectively contribute to supporting the sectors of transport and tourism.
This came in Abu Ghazala’s speech in the 108th round of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League held on Wednesday at the premises of the AL general secretariat at the level of senior officials.
Abu Ghazala said that this initiative is presented to the council by the UAE, the Arab Tourism Organisation, the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation and the Arab Air Carriers Organisation in coordination with the Arab council of health ministers.
She necessitated resuming a swift move by the Arab countries to support efforts to contain the social and economic repercussions of the Covid 19 pandemic.
She said that the Arab countries exert every effort to secure vaccines for the largest number of citizens. However, there are humanitarian and social repercussions which hinder the track of sustainable development.
She said that preparing the economic and social files for the coming Arab summit top of the agenda of the council as the AL is working on getting the approval of the Arab leaders during the coming summit of a number of programms, projects and strategies in the different developmental, economic and social fields to promote the joint Arab action and to contribute to achieving a better life for the Arab citizens.
