President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed that Egypt is now enjoying a modern and integrated infrastructure of facilities and services, which provides a strong basis for the establishment of any development cooperation with international partners.
The President’s marks came during his meeting with South Korean Minister of Defense Suh Wook on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki and South Korean minister of the government’s Defence Acquisition Programme Administration (DAPA) Kang Eun-ho as well as South Korean Ambassador Hong Jin-wook, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, the President said Egypt is proud of its close ties with South Korea and is keen to enhance areas of bilateral cooperation, especially in the military and defense fields.
He also noted that Egypt looks forward to activating the comprehensive cooperation partnership in a way that suits the capabilities of the two countries and boosts Egypt’s benefit from the development experience of South Korea.
For his part, the South Korean defense minister expressed his country’s appreciation for the development and growth of Egyptian-Korean relations and stressed South Korea’s interest in deepening those fruitful relations in light of the development boom Egypt is witnessing under the leadership of President Sisi.
He also referred to the pivotal Egyptian role in the region as a pillar of security and stability and highlighted the importance of working to consolidate the military and security relations as part of joint cooperation between the two countries.
The Korean minister also said his country is interested in increasing its investments in major development and infrastructure projects and in Egypt as well as other projects in various fields.
The President and the Korean delegation also discussed ways to enhance military and security cooperation between the two countries, especially in joint manufacturing, transfer and localisation of technology, in light of Egypt’s pivotal role in the region and its responsibility in achieving stability, security and combating terrorism.
In this context, the South Korean minister commended the rapid intervention and effective mediation carried out by Egypt and led by President Sisi, to calm the situation in Gaza Strip and contain the escalation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, as well as the initiative to rebuild Gaza.
