Egyptian Minister of Culture Enas Abdel-Dayem handed the graduation certificates to the first batch “Cinema in Your Hands“ Project, which comes as part of “Start Your Dream“ initiative, aiming to train youth in all governorates on the art of cinema.
The project is implemented by the General Authority of Culture Palaces, headed by Hisham Atwa, on the stage of Al-Anfoushi Culture Palace in Alexandria.
“Today, we meet on the land of the ancient city of Alexandria, one of the greatest cities of the ancient world, the city was a meeting place for the East and the West and the icon of a unique model for arts and creativity throughout its history,” Abdel Dayem said during the event.
“The project continues our dream of discovering talented people and we are full of determination to make it a reality that we steadily move on towards a promising future,” she added.
The minister announced that the workshop would be repeated in Alexandria due to the great turnout of Alexandrians.
Furthermore, she explained that short time ago, the ministry achieved the dream of graduating three batches of the “Start Your Dream” project in the governorates of Assiut, Fayoum and Sharqia – which have become later as official theatre troupes.
She continued that ‘Today, the dream expands to graduate the first batch of “Cinema in Your Hands” project in al-Anfoushi Culture Palace.’
This project was launched to give the opportunity to talented people to acquire skills in the arts of script, photography, editing and directing through study courses, workshops and lectures.
The project is carried out by elite professors from the Higher Institute of Cinema and senior specialists in the film field, aiming to enrich the field of cinema with a real valuable talented Egyptian youth to express themselves and invest their creative energies in spreading the message of enlightenment in society through the art of cinema.
The celebration began with screening a documentary film about the project, followed by two films produced by the workshop.
It is noteworthy that “Cinema in Your Hands” Project, which was launched by the Minister of Culture, started its first stage in Alexandria, where 154 young men and women submitted to the project – 97 male and female graduated in its first after studying cinema arts by the hands of a number of specialists.
