Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production, Mohamed Ahmed Morsi, met in Cairo on Sunday a high-level Sudanese defence industry delegation headed by Deputy Head of Sudan’s Defense Industries System (DIS), el-Jyali Tageddine Abu Shama.
The meeting, the Egyptian minister said, focused on means of enhancing joint co-operation, along with financing mechanisms for contracts between the two sides.
Minister Morsi added that his ministry puts co-operation with Sudan in high esteem.
‘We actually work to push this co-operation more forward,” Minister Morsi said.
He added that his ministry is open to co-operation with all companies that operate in all fields, especially in the exchange of expertise and the localization of industrial technologies.
Minister Morsi noted that yesterday’s meeting with officials from DIS was not his first.
It is, he said, part of a series of meetings with officials from the Sudanese agency.
‘These meetings demonstrate keenness on the part of the two sides to follow up on their co-operation and speed up the implementation of agreements between them,’ the Egyptian minister said.
He referred to the formation of a joint committee with DIS.
The committee, he said, convened several times in the past months to appraise the implementation of joint projects and agreements.
The Sudanese official said, meanwhile, that his country is keen on increasing economic co-operation with Egypt in the coming period.
He added that DIS is interested in enhancing its strategic partnership with all Egyptian institutions and companies, on top of which the companies of the Ministry of Military Production.
‘We hope to achieve economic returns that benefit our two countries,” Abu Shama said.
He noted that co-operation between Cairo and Khartoum is not limited to the military field, but also includes other fields.
He praised the efforts Egypt makes to attract foreign investments and make the local investment climate attractive to these investments.
