Egyptian Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi, who is also head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, on Thursday attended a celebration held in Cairo to mark International Youth Day.
Mushira Abu Ghali, chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Arab Youth Council for Integrated Development and a large number of youth and officials from Egypt and other Arab countries attended the event, of which the theme was ‘Empowering Arab Youth towards Positive Action’.
Sobhi thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his support for youth in all fields and on all occasions.
Egypt’s political leadership’s appreciation of the role youth can play in the achievement of development for their countries commends the efforts of the Arab Youth Council for Integrated Development, Sobhi said, adding that his ministry works to help young people in all parts of the Arab world to exchange their experiences and knowledge through a large number of gatherings.
“We also encourage them to be creative wherever they go,” he said.
Sobhi went on to say that his ministry supports and cares for youth in all parts of Egypt by providing them with appropriate space for their sports activities, thus contributing to expanding the popular base of sports in Egypt.
“We also make efforts to cooperate with the civil society in developing activities and programmes that serve youth in Egypt and across the region,” Sobhi said, adding that his ministry’s goal is to increase the exchange of experiences among Egyptian and Arab youth and to consolidate important values and principles among them.
“This reflects at the end of the day on nation-building and development,” he said.
