Egypt's aviation ministry celebrates 50th anniversary of October War 3 - Egyptian Gazette

By Mohamed Attia

Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation held a symposium on October 12 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the October War. The symposium was attended by Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy, senior ministry officials, and a large number of employees.

In his opening remarks, Helmi highlighted the importance of commemorating the October War, which he called “a turning point in Egypt’s history.” He also praised the efforts of the Egyptian people and Armed Forces in achieving victory.

Helmi then turned to the challenges facing Egypt’s aviation sector, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

He said that the sector had overcome these challenges and was now in a strong position to continue to grow and develop.

Helmy also announced a number of new initiatives to further develop the sector, including the construction of a new passenger terminal at Cairo International Airport with a capacity of 30 million passengers per year.

The ministry also constructed a new passenger terminal at Hurghada International Airport with a capacity of 7.5 million passengers per year.

It also modernised EgyptAir’s fleet and the opening of new routes.

Helmi concluded by calling on all employees of the aviation sector to work together to achieve the ministry’s goals and to continue to serve Egypt’s national interests
