Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit has sent an urgent letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to call on him to use his political and moral weight to prevent a new war crime Israel is planning to commit as part of its bloody and shameful campaign against the Gaza Strip; as Israel told all residents of the northern Gaza Strip to relocate immediately to its south.
This new crime exceeds every reasonable limit and will lead to unlimited suffering for the Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip, said Gamal Roshdy, spokesman for the AL chief, citing the letter.
It also constitutes a flagrant violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the Occupying Power from the individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from the occupied territory, added the letter.
