Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Wednesday Chairman of the Board of Directors of Italy’s Danieli Group Gianpietro Benedetti to discuss prospects of co-operation between the two sides.

Danieli Group is one of the oldest and largest international companies in manufacturing steel equipment and technology.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed, Minister of the Public Business Sector Mahmoud Esmat, Chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) Maj Gen Mokhtar Abdel Latif, and a host of the Italian company’s senior officials, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.

The Danieli chief said during the meeting that his company was planning to expand its activities in Egypt through the establishment of industrial complexes, and environment-friendly green technology.

Benedetti referred to the investment opportunities and economic advantages Egypt offers, including regional and international free trade agreements, and advanced infrastructure in various sectors.

President Sisi, for his part, stressed Egypt’s firm desire to develop constructive co-operation with Danieli and other Italian companies, in light of the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Italy.

The president also reiterated Egypt’s keenness to localise industry and technology anddeepen partnership and co-operation with the private sector through offering it the opportunities to grow and engage in future activities with the Italian company.

The president also referred to establishing Italian technical centres in Egypt to offer training to workers, benefit from foreign expertise in knowledge transfer and building the technical capacities of the Egyptian human resources, the presidency spokesman said.
