The budget of social solidarity under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has been unprecedented, and the largest ever.

The remark was made by Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag on the third day of Story of A Homeland: Between Vision and Achievement conference, held at the New Administrative Capital with participation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

President Sisi has always stressed directed due attention to the poor and the most vulnerable groups, and part of this protection is investing in humans, the minister said.

In 2014, social justice was a basic demand of the people, and the government responded positively, placing it on top of its priorities, approving and adopting policies aiming to provide social protection for all classes of the Egyptian people.

The referred to the 2014 Constitution as a new social knot between the government and the people, “based on participation, since we are one people,” she said.

There are several ministries and agencies operating in the field of social solidarity, providing protection to various categories, such as breadwinner women, pensioners, worker and those in debt.

Social protection constitute a set of procedures and benefits that provide citizens with a minimum monthly income, and it does not imply stopping work, the minister said, referring to groups that are unable to work, and that have to be qualified sufficiently to pass from solidarity stage to  one where they can work and even have their own enterprises.

Meanwhile, the minister said that the state offers LE1.75 billion annually to support up to 20 per cent of the orphans in Egypt.
