An incredible night for Al-Ahly at Borg El Arab Stadium as the Red Eagles defeated Al Masry 4-0 in the opening match of the 2023-2024 Egyptian League campaign.
Reda Slim netted his first goal in the Red jersey to open the score while Percy Tau scored a brace with two beautiful shots. Also, Karim Fouad highlighted his return after a long injury with a fantastic goal.
This big victory equalled our biggest win over Al-Masry in the league which happened on two occasions before in 1979 and 1998.
Powered by the incredible support of the fans in the stands, Al-Ahly started the game on the front foot, having several early chances to open the score.
Reda Slim and Emam Ashour looked sharp and were getting forward to put pressure on Al Masry’s defense.
Shortly afterwards, they did get the goal their pressure merited with a perfect finish from Reda after a beautiful pass from Emam to give Al-Ahly the lead at half time.
The second half was a one-way traffic as Percy Tau enjoyed himself and put on a spectacular performance.
Tau doubled the score with a strong shot after a beautiful link-up with Mohamed Hany and shortly afterwards he added the third goal after receiving a perfect long pass from Emam.
Tau’s top performance and his two goals won him the Man Of The Match award.
