Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmy thanked the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) for its remarkable and fruitful efforts to enhance aviation safety and improve the African air transport industry in coordination with regional as well as international partners.

The minister made the remarks in a speech during the opening session of the Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition held in Abuja, Niger, on September 13-14.

According to a press release by the Civil Aviation Ministry on Saturday, during the two-day event, summiteers discussed a wide range of issues of common concern, including sustainability, global trends for Africa’s involvement in the international aviation industry, sustainable aviation fuel shortage, African governments’ role in improving airlines and contributing to their growth, and African airliners’ strategies and plans to deal with the challenges posed by the Open Skies policy.
