CAIRO- Egyptian-Indian relations have an extended historical dimension and greater future growth potential, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said in radio statements Friday.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made a historic trip to New Delhi in January as Egypt was the only country invited as a guest in India’s Republic Day celebrations, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Egypt in July, where President Sisi presented him with the Order of the Nile, the highest Egyptian order ever, as evidence of Egypt’s solid relations with India, he added.
Egypt maintains balanced relations with all prominent international powers, both in east and the west, the spokesman said.
Egypt is concentrating on strengthening connections in the fields of industry and technology transfer as India is a prominent country in both, and cooperation between Cairo and New Delhi is already quite robust, he continued.
The participation of President Sisi and Egypt in the G20 summit hosted by India is not only in a national capacity, but also in light of Cairo’s presidency of the NEPAD. Therefore, there will be discussions of the concerns and crises of African nations with regard to climate challenges, on which Africa has a heavy load, as well as with regard to financing development, Fahmy said.
