Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy witnessed at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Cairo Airport Company and an alliance of several international companies headed by the American company PANGIAM, the leading company in the fields of using modern technology, software engineering, systems integration and airport operations and the American company AECOM, the leading company in the field of airport design.

The alliance also included international companies specialised in the field of architecture, engineering designs and financial consulting.

A memorandum of understanding has also been signed between the Cairo Airport Company and the American company PANGIAM to conduct a full study on Cairo International Airport and develop the infrastructure and how to transform it into a smart airport managed by the best advanced digital technology in the world to make the traveller’s journey more accessible and easy and to comply with international standards in terms of brevity.

Minister Helmy confirmed that the signing of the two memorandums of understanding comes as part of the Ministry’s keenness to develop the infrastructure and raise the efficiency of the Egyptian airports system by utilising distinguished expertise in the field of modern technologies to enhance the level of services provided to travellers in order to achieve a more comfortable and distinguished travel experience, in light of the increase of the expected volume of air traffic and tourist arrivals to Egypt during the coming period.

For their part, the members of the American delegation participating in the meeting praised the fruitful co-operation with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, especially in the coming period, and their emphasis on providing and supporting Cairo airport with the latest advanced digital systems.

They also pointing to the clear efforts witnessed by the civil aviation sector in order to move forward in continuing development, modernisation and implementation work introducing the latest technological and digital systems in the Egyptian airports system, applying best practices for flexible travel experiences and facilitating procedures to make the travel experience easier and more flexible.
