BUDAPEST – Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese received on Monday an honorary doctorate from Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPCU) during a ceremony held in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
The Arabic Language professor at Budapest University hailed during a speech at the ceremony the role of the Pope and the Catholic Church in Egypt since the 2011 Revolution.
For his Part, Pope Tawadros spoke of Egypt’s civilisation spanning over 7,00 years and hailed the development projects in Egypt including the New Administrative Capital and its Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ which is a Coptic Orthodox cathedral opened in 2019 .
The ceremony was attended by a number of Hungarian officials including the deputy prime minister.
