Clubhouse finally got its own direct messaging service! Like Instagram and Twitter, 100 per cent audio applications now allow users to send messages directly to each other. However, this option does not yet allow users to submit photos. You can now send messages in Clubhouse.
According to the platform’s official blog, the audio platform is deploying a text-based messaging system for users on both Android and iOS. This direct messaging system, called the “back channel,” allows users to start conversations one-on-one or as a group.
This is certainly a useful feature for users who are hesitant to use 100 per cent audio, but the system now seems to have some limitations. For example, users can send links in direct messages, but they can’t currently send photos or videos, TechCrunch reports.
Like Twitter and Instagram, users can receive message requests from other unknown users in a dedicated section where they can approve or reject them. To access messaging, swipe right on the home page or click the small paper plane icon in your profile to send a direct message, like Instagram.
According to TechCrunch, you can’t delete a message at this time, but users can copy and report the message. Clubhouse promises to announce more options in the coming weeks.
