Egypt’s Environment Minister Yassmin Fouad discussed with Head of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Abdallah al Dardari and Resident Representative of the UNDP in Egypt Alessandro Fracassetti aspects of future co-operation in light of the current partnership with the UNDP to support environmental investment.
In a statement on Wednesday, Fouad said that the UNDP is a main partner in the development journey of the environment sector in Egypt via the different tools presented to support the environmental policies.
She added that the UNDP was a partner in several stories of success that achieved a quantum leap in Egypt including the launching of the idea of sustainable transport in Egypt via cooperation between the program and the Environment Ministry.
The minister asserted the importance of linking between the climate, biological diversity and desertification and the role of the UNDP in developing a group of policies to face those three challenges.
