Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the visiting Sultan Haitham bin Tareq of Oman on Sunday held summit talks that featured an exchange of views on regional and international issues within the framework of consultations between the two countries and their efforts to realise regional stability and security.

At the outset of the talks, President Sisi welcomed Sultan Haitham as an honoured guest of Egypt and wished him success in achieving the Oman Vision 2040, Spokesman Fahmy said.
President Sisi also lauded the historical and friendly relations between the two countries, which were established through decades of solidarity, synergy and the oneness of ranks together in the face of crises and challenges, Spokesman Fahmy said.
The president also reiterated Egypt’s keenness on promoting the bilateral, distinguished ties in a manner that helps achieve interests of people in both countries, as well as those of the entire Arab nation.
For his part, Sultan Haitham commended the distinguished Egyptian-Omani relations, and the bonds of friendship and fraternity uniting the two peoples throughout history, Spokesman Fahmy said.
The Sultan also stressed Oman’s keenness on bolstering the frameworks of bilateral ties and opening up fresh prospects for further co-operation in all fields over the coming period, building on the positive outcome of President Sisi’s visit to Muscat in June 2022.
The Omani leader expressed eagerness on carrying on with consultation and coordination on the regional and international issues of common interest, especially in light of Egypt’s strategic and cultural depth for the Arab nation and its role as an essential element in preserving security and stability of the region.
In addition, the two leaders expressed content over the rise in bilateral trade, and affirmed the continuation of action to bolster the ongoing efforts in this respect, the spokesman said.
President Sisi and Sultan Haitham also discussed means of exchanging expertise in institutional development and modernisation of the administrative apparatuses and work mechanisms in the two countries in line with governance and digitisation.

The Sultan of Oman had arrived at Cairo International Airport earlier in the day yesterday and was received by President Sisi. He was then greeted by a 21-gun salute upon reaching Al-Ittihadiya Palace where the two leaders reviewed the guard of honour as a brass band played the national anthems of Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman.
Relations between Egypt and Oman have been on a growth course especially since President Sisi’s visit to Muscat in June last year.
During that visit, several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and executive programmes were co-signed to provide frameworks for sustained and growing co-operation.
