RIYADH – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed al-Budaiwi denounced Friday an Israeli government minister, Knesset members and settlers storming of Al Aqsa Mosque under protection of Israeli troops, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
In a press statement, the GCC chief said that continued attempts by Israeli occupation forces to break into Al Aqsa Mosque is deemed a serious escalation and desecration of Al Aqsa Mosque.
Budaiwi emphasized that the international community, along with all relevant regional and international organizations should work so seriously and effectively to put an end to nonstop Israeli violations of Palestinian territories, the statement read.
The GCC chief reiterated all member states’ unwavering support for the Palestinian issue, as being the prime cause of Arabs and Muslims, backing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-June 4, 1967 border, it added.
Hundreds of Israeli settlers and an occupation government minister on Thursday broke into Al Aqsa mosque under Israeli police guard.
