Egypt’s Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker left here Sunday for the UAE to take part in the second edition of the World Utilities Congress 2023, which runs between Monday for three days under the aegis of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

Minister Shaker will participate in a session titled “Strengthening ambition en route to COP28 and beyond”.

The ministerial session will be attended by the energy minister of the UAE, Bahrain and Romania to address regional and national commitments to reducing emissions ahead of the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 28).

The minister is to hold a set of one-on-one meetings with ministers and senior government officials at the conference, which will take place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.

Also, Shaker will hold meetings with heads of mega energy firms to probe ways of giving impetus to cooperation with Egypt in the domains of electricity and renewable energy.

The World Utilities Congress will bring together energy ministers, policymakers, global CEOs and business leaders from around the globe to share their insights and perspectives on the industry affairs and come up with tangible outputs for the current challenges.

The strategic conference will also allow industry leaders to directly engage policymakers and discuss the kind of support they need to ensure a secure and sustainable power and water future.
