LUXOR – Assistant Minister of Health and Population Ahmed el Sobky said over 7.8 million medical care services have been provided to beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project in the Upper Egypt governorate of Luxor, since the launch of the initiative two years ago.

In statements to MENA, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare (GAH), Sobky, said family health centers had offered up to 3.5 million medical services for people in Luxor, including conducting inclusive 1.1 million medical examinations and offering 2.3 million family medical services.

As many as 695,000 dental health care services had been provided, while up to 850,000 laboratory tests and x-ray screenings had been conducted, the General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project said, adding that at least 280,000 persons had received first aid services.

The number of those registered at the Comprehensive Health Insurance System in Luxor has surpassed one million citizens, so far, Soby said, noting that the ratio of satisfaction among the beneficiaries has recorded 91 percent.

The number of health care services provided by hospitals, which are affiliates of the GAH in Luxor, has hit 3.36 million, Sobky said, noting that the number of GAH hospitals in the Upper Egypt governorate is six.

Eleven health facilities have been accredited, so far, in light of their compliance with the top-notch standards of the national accreditation program, which is recognized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Sobky said.

He added that 43 other health facilities managed to make their registration, in preparation for being granted the national accreditation.
