CAIRO- Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said 1,140 Egyptians were evacuated from the unrest-hit Sudan on Wednesday, bringing to 2,679 the number of Egyptian evacuees so far.
In press statements, he said 697 Egyptian citizens were evacuated from Sudan via air, while 443 others were evacuated via land.
On Sunday, Egypt started evacuating its nationals from safe areas in Sudan in coordination with the Sudanese authorities.
The Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum and the consulates in both Khartoum and Port Sudan, as well as the consular office in Wadi Halfa, are continuing their efforts around the clock to evacuate Egyptians from Sudan.
