The US State Department has said it backs Lebanese authorities’s efforts to complete quick and transparent investigations into the Beirut’ port explotion which was caused by chemical materials.
State Department spokesman Ned Price said his country told the international community that the Lebanese authorities should complete the investigations as soon as possible.
The extremely explosive chemicals arrived at the Beirut port aboard the Moldovan-flagged Rhosus in 2013 and remained at the port until they blew up on August 4, 2020, killing more than 215 and wounding thousands of others.
