U.S. bombs 3 nuclear sites in Iran; Trump hails ‘very successful attack’
In a dramatic escalation, the United States has carried out airstrikes on three key nuclear facilities in Iran, including the heavily fortified Fordow site, as well as the Natanz and Esfahan installations. The strikes mark a significant turning point in rising regional tensions and could ignite broader conflict in the Middle East.
President Donald Trump confirmed the operation late Sunday, describing it as a “very successful attack.” In a statement posted on social media, Trump declared:
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iranian airspace. A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”
Trump later announced he would address the nation at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time, calling the moment “historic” for the United States. He confirmed the use of B-2 stealth bombers in the operation but did not specify the type of munitions deployed.
The direct U.S. strike follows over a week of sustained Israeli attacks targeting Iran’s air defenses and nuclear infrastructure. The American intervention signals a major escalation and a deepening of U.S. involvement in the ongoing confrontation with Tehran.
