US President Donald Trump said Monday that there is a chance now for achieving peace in the Middle East after decades of wars, expressing confidence that the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel will hold.
Trump, who arrived in Jerusalem Monday morning, is expected to be greeted with emotional scenes in Jerusalem as he meets the families of hostages released by Hamas, under a deal that he has championed.
The US leader will have a chance to lay out his vision of Middle East peace at a speech in Israel’s Knesset and then co-chair a summit in Egypt attended by the leaders of more than 20 countries aimed at finalizing a permanent truce in Gaza.
