CAIRO – Swedish Ambassador in Cairo Håkan Emsgård highlighted the key role played by Egypt in ceasing fire in the Gaza Strip and putting an end to the current crisis.
In statements to MENA, the ambassador underscored Egypt’s ability in holding contacts with all parts of the conflict.
Egypt plays a pivotal role in promoting security and stability in the Middle East region, he said, describing as “very important” Egypt’s handing of the current crisis in the Gaza Strip.
He said the situation in the strip is very difficult, voicing appreciation of Egypt’s facilitation of evacuating foreigners and people of double nationalities from the enclave.
He noted that Sweden offered 253 million Swedish krona in humanitarian assistance to the enclave in 2023.
Meanwhile, the ambassador lauded the depth of the Egyptian-Swedish ties in various political, economic and trade domains.
He highlighted coordination between the two countries in regional and international issues of mutual concern.
He underlined the importance of fruitful economic cooperation between Egypt and Sweden, referring to the volume of investments and Swedish companies operating in Egypt.
