KHARTOUM – Sudan has its political, diplomatic and economic options to deal with the Ethiopian dam file if Addis Ababa insists on moving forward with unilateral measures, Spokesman for the Sudanese negotiating team Omar Al-Farouq Kamel told local media Sunday.
Sudan will begin to implement those options, decided by the relevant committees after mulling the results of the Security Council session, which was held Thursday, he added.
Describing Ethiopia’s unilateral action as “recklessness”, the Sudanese diplomat warned that “the cost will be high for Ethiopia that will lose its distinguished relations with Sudan.”
Sudan went to the Security Council for the second time to hold it responsible regarding an issue that could affect regional peace and security, within the framework of the “preventive diplomacy,” Kamel said.
Sudan is now facing a real and imminent danger related to the filling of the Ethiopian dam without reaching an agreement, he added.
Sudan has its concerns and Egypt has as well but the two countries agree on the need to reach a legally binding agreement, the Sudanese diplomat said.
Sudan is fully assured of the level of coordination with Egypt in this regard, he added.
