Sudan’s Ambassador to the European Union Abdelbagi Kabeir said the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) should have no place in any future political settlement in Sudan and praised Egypt’s role in efforts to resolve the conflict.
He told Al-Qahera News TV that preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and stability must remain a priority.
Kabeir urged the EU to require the RSF to reopen crossings to allow humanitarian aid into the country and pressed the bloc to follow through on its pledges of assistance to Sudan. He noted that while the EU had condemned RSF abuses in the North Darfur capital of El-Fasher, that response was insufficient given the scale of violations reported there.
The envoy called for punitive measures against RSF leaders and for them to be held accountable for alleged crimes, along with a clear EU decision denouncing the group’s actions in El-Fasher. He added that the RSF had rejected United Nations demands to lift its siege of the city.
