CAIRO – The permanent representative of Palestine at the Arab League has said that solidarity with the Palestinian people entails recognition of their independent state with full membership at the UN.
Speaking at the AL HQ in Cairo Sunday to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Mohand al-Aklouk said humanity is not equally viewed among all peoples. “It is a mask that is worn at occasions and taken off at other occasions,” Aklouk said.
International justice does not do justice to the victims, nor does it punish the criminal, Aklouk said, noting that it is a lopsided balance that does not benefit people.
International law does not oblige Israel to stop its systematic crimes, the Palestinian diplomat said. This international system that was established over the past 80 years is being destroyed by Israel before the eyes of the world, he added.
Solidarity that cannot end an Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people that has been going on for 442 days is as good as treating tumor with a painkiller, according to Aklouk.
Israel killed and wounded about 160,000 Palestinian civilians, 7% of Gaza’s population, he told the gathering, adding that the apartheid occupation power is still burning hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, UN shelters and houses of citizens, not to mention the starvation war it launches in the besieged enclave.
