CAIRO – Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League Hossam Zaki stated on Thursday that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Conference has effectively brought an end to the genocide waged by Israel against the Gaza Strip.
In remarks to AlQahera News channel, the assistant secretary affirmed that the role played by mediators is pivotal to ensuring the achievement of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, reiterating that Egypt’s role was very significant in reaching the agreement.
Zaki noted that Israel continues to impose obstacles and barriers in an attempt to evade its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, adding that ongoing US pressure on Israel serves as a key guarantee for the agreement’s success.
He also stressed that the full return of the Palestinian Authority is the only path to restoring stability in the Gaza Strip, expressing hope that the Authority will be able to assume its responsibilities in governing the territory.
