RAMALLAH – Scores of Israeli settlers, guarded by Israeli police, barged into Al Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday.
The settlers stormed the compound in groups, performing Talmudic rituals at the mosque yards, Al Quds governor said in a statement.
They also performed provocative tours in the mosque courtyards.
While non-Muslims are permitted to visit the compound under long-standing status quo arrangements, they are not allowed to perform religious rituals there.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces detained two Palestinian children from the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, during a pre-dawn military raid, according to WAFA news agency.
Mohammad Awad, a local activist, reported that Israeli soldiers stormed the Abu al-Tuq and Al-Dhahr neighborhoods, raiding and ransacking several homes. During the raid, they detained 16-year-old Ibrahim Samir Al-Alami and 16-year-old Abdullah Bahr.
The two children were subsequently taken to an unknown destination by the forces.
