RAMALLAH – Scores of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque Monday under the protection of Israeli occupation troops.

The Israeli settlers carried out provocative measures and performed Talmudic prayers in the environs of Al-Aqsa.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces detained 23 Palestinians from various parts of the occupied territories, according to various sources.

They said that Israeli forces rounded up four Palestinians after raiding the houses of their families in Jalazon refugee camp, north of Ramallah, Palestinian news agency reported.

The heavily-armed soldiers rounded up three others from Silwad town, east of Ramallah, and ransacked their houses.

Viral video footage surfaced online of young protestors showering the military vehicles with stones during the raid in the town.

In Jerusalem, Israeli police leading dogs showed up at a house in Silwan neighbourhood and detained a resident.

In the southern West Bank, a military force barged into Dheisheh refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, where the soldiers broke into several houses, conducted thorough searches, and eventually detained six residents, a 58-year-old father along with his 55-year-old wife and their son in addition to three brothers.

Three of the detainees were released several hours later.

There was a similar raid in Wadi al-Samen neighborhood, south of Hebron, leading to the detention of three others.

In the northern West Bank, the sources confirmed a raid in Kafr Qaddum town, east of Qalqilya, resulting in the detention of two others.

Meanwhile, a large army force conducted a raid in Jenin city, sparking violent confrontations.

The gun-toting soldiers opened fire toward local young men, hitting one with a live round in the thigh.

The soldiers surrounded and forcibly entered the family house of a former prisoner, assaulted the family members, opened fire inside, and conducted a thorough search, resulting in the destruction of its furniture. They ultimately arrested four brothers.
