CAIRO – The Egyptian Red Crescent announced that the humanitarian convoy “Zad Al-Ezza – From Egypt to Gaza”, now on its 45th day, is carrying 3,600 tonnes of food, medical and relief supplies into southern Gaza.
The aid is entering through Rafah Border Crossing in North Sinai, heading towards the Karam Abu Salem Crossing in southeast Gaza, where the trucks undergo inspection by Israeli occupation forces before delivery to Palestinians in the strip.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Red Crescent confirmed that the convoy includes around 3,300 tons of food baskets and flour, along with over 300 tonnes of medical and relief items, reinforcing Egypt’s ongoing efforts to meet the essential needs of food, medicine and fuel for the people of Gaza.
“Zad Al-Ezza” convoy, launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent on July 27, successfully dispatched dozens of aid convoys, delivering thousands of tons of critical supplies. These include food chains, flour, infant formula, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, personal care items and fuel.
The Israeli occupation forces closed Gaza’s border crossings on March 2, following the end of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the failure to reach a new deal to maintain the truce. The ceasefire was violated by an intense airstrike on March 18, followed by renewed ground incursions into areas previously evacuated by Israeli forces across the Gaza Strip.
Israel also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel and shelter materials for displaced persons who lost their homes during the war and refused to allow in heavy equipment needed for debris removal and reconstruction efforts.
In May, the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza resumed under a mechanism enforced by Israeli authorities and a US security company, despite opposition from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which objected to its violation of established international aid mechanisms.
