Qatar’s prime minister said on Thursday that Iran’s strike on the world’s largest gas facility, located in Qatar, served as “clear proof” contradicting Tehran’s assertion that it was only targeting US interests in the Gulf.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani noted that Iran had “persistently claimed these attacks are directed at American interests… but this claim is rejected and cannot be accepted.”

“The undeniable evidence is the attack that occurred yesterday, which targeted a natural gas facility in the State of Qatar,” he said.

He warned that “this attack carries serious implications for global energy supplies. Such actions bring no real benefit to any nation; instead, they cause harm and directly affect populations,” following extensive damage to the Ras Laffan facility.

At a joint press conference in Doha, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkey had been offering “friendly” advice to Iran, urging it not to expand its conflict with the United States and Israel into the broader Middle East. He added that Tehran’s attacks on countries in the region were unacceptable.

Fidan stated that while Israel was the primary instigator of the war, Iran also bore a “historic responsibility” not to strike neighboring states.

He said Ankara was in contact with both Washington and Tehran to gauge their positions, and affirmed that Turkey would continue its efforts to help end the conflict.
