Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed the situation in Afghanistan over the phone, the Kremlin’s press-service said Sunday.
“The situation in Afghanistan was discussed in detail. It was agreed the Russian and Uzbek agencies and ministries concerned would step up co-operation,” the statement says.
Earlier in the day, Uzbek authorities revealed that they had boosted security measures on the border with Afghanistan, as the Taliban is edging closer to taking full control of the neighboring country
