ALEXANDRIA, Egypt – Peace and security in the Middle East region will not be achieved without the establishment of a Palestinian state with al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, Tamim Khallaf, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

This came during a symposium organized by the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Alexandria University, entitled “Egyptian Foreign Policy and Current Developments.”

The symposium was attended by a group of professors, faculty members, and students from the Departments of Economics and Political Science.

Khallaf reviewed Egypt’s plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which includes a comprehensive vision for the reconstruction process without displacing the Palestinians.

He pointed out that the challenges facing Egyptian national security and the regional geopolitical situation are exceptional, extremely dangerous, and of unprecedented importance in Egypt’s modern history.

Khallaf addressed the close circle of Egyptian national security, addressing the northeastern border and the fierce war waged by Israel against Palestine in Gaza.

He also reviewed the broader circle of national security, which includes the Ethiopian dam and the challenges facing the Horn of Africa and Somalia.

He also addressed the broader circle of Egyptian national security, which includes the Russian-Ukrainian war and its negative repercussions, in addition to the unprecedented challenges, including cross-border challenges, terrorism, organized crime, illegal immigration, and irregular migration. This, in turn, poses challenges to Egyptian foreign policy, which seeks to address all issues simultaneously in a swift and effective manner.

He addressed the most prominent regional crises and the prominent role played by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in the Palestinian cause on all political, security, and humanitarian levels, as it is one of the most active Arab diplomats in supporting the Palestinian people.
