Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh on Monday extended thanks to Egypt for hosting the meeting of heads of Palestinian factions called for by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Addressing the Palestinian cabinet weekly meeting in Ramallah, Shtayyeh said a committee was formed to follow up the meetings’ outcome, a matter which gives a glimpse of hope on the continuation of dialogue among the factions.
He praised the speech of Abbas during the meeting on the seriousness of recurrent Israeli attacks on Palestinian territories, pressing the need for uniting ranks to counter such attacks launched by the occupation army and its settlers against the territories.
The heads of Palestinian factions held a meeting on Sunday in the New Alamein City to complete the dialogue on various issues and files pertaining to the Palestinian issue.
During the meeting, Abbas asked the committee to start working immediately to accomplish its mission and to submit the agreements or recommendations it reaches, according to the final statement of the meeting of the heads of the Palestinian factions.
President Abbas said he considers this meeting as a first and important step to complete national dialogue, expressing hope that the desired goals will be achieved as soon as possible.
He hoped that there would be another meeting soon in Egypt to announce the end of division and the restoration of Palestinian national unity.
