Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said on Monday that the attack on Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm on Monday is the best proof of the Israeli mentality of destruction and killing, said WAFA.
An Israeli army force raided this morning Nur Shams refugee camp, causing heavy destruction to roads, infrastructure and properties in a scene reminiscent of earlier devastation in Jenin refugee camp when the Israeli army virtually destroyed the camp in two days of military assault, killing 12 people in addition to injuring more than 100 others.
Speaking at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting held in Ramallah, Shtayyeh strongly denounced what he described as “the Israeli war machine, which does not stop taking more lives of our defenseless children,” giving the example of the Israeli army’s recent killing of the young man Fawzi Makhalfeh, in the town of Sebastia, and the child Mohammad al-Bayed from Jalazon refugee camp, and the injury of a number of others.
“All these crimes are taking place in parallel with the crimes committed by settler gangs throughout the Palestinian territories, and the continuous incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, which stems from the doctrine of erasure, arson and genocide espoused by the ruling coalition in Israel,” said the Prime Minister.
Shtayyeh said that Israeli society is paying the price today for its silence about the crimes committed by its far-right government against the Palestinian people.
“The criminal ideas and practices of the occupiers quickly backfire today on their society, which must realize the danger of this ideology embraced by these extremists and act to combat it,” he said in reference to the protests in Israel against the government’s so-called reforms in the judicial system.
“The Israeli society must exert pressure to end the occupation of our land and stop committing its crimes against our people,” he said.
