JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed Armenia’s recognition of Palestinian statehood, considering it a significant step toward complying with international law and relevant UN resolutions, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
In a statement issued today, OIC said this move will support international efforts and stances aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to obtain the right to self-determination, return, and an independent state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The organisation renewed its call for global recognition of Palestine and urged all countries to follow suit, joining international efforts to attain regional peace and stability through the two-state solution.
