French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Israel not to “widen the conflict” with Hamas, and consider releasing hostages held in Gaza as “the first objective,” according to euro news.
Macron made the comments during a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Isaac Herzog.
“The first objective we should have today is the release of all the hostages, without any distinction”.
French President Emmanuel Macron called for a revival of peace talks in the Middle East and said Palestinian statehood would also benefit Israeli security, according to Bloomberg.
“Israel can’t have lasting security without a decisive revival of the political process with the Palestinians,” Macron told reporters alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.
