BEIRUT – The Lebanese parliamentary elections kicked off on Sunday amid tight security.
A total of 3.9 million Lebanese are eligible to vote in the polls, including 2.9 males.
Some 718 candidates are competing in 15 major and 26 small constituencies to fill 128 parliament seats equally distributed between Muslims and Christians.
Today is the last stage of Lebanese parliamentary elections that began on May 6. The first and second stage included expatriates living in 58 countries. The third stage covered staffers involved in the parliamentary process.
Lebanon held its last national election in 2018, the country’s first vote since the outbreak of the 2011 civil war in neighboring Syria.
