AMMAN – King Abdullah II of Jordan has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to protect civilians and secure the delivery of aid to the needy in the Palestinian enclave.
During a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen Sunday, the king warned of the aggravating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, calling on the international community to compel Israel to respect international laws and the United Nations Charter.
He said Israel’s heinous war on Gaza would worsen the situation in the West Bank and and Al Quds, pointing out that the only solution to the Palestinian problem lies in the two-state solution.
For her part, the European president stressed the importance of achieving peace in the region saying the European side rejects any attempt to force the Gazans
to leave the strip.
