AMMAN – The Foreign Ministry condemned on Sunday Israel’s restrictions in Al Quds that banned thousands of Christians from going to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Saturday to mark Holy Saturday.
A large number of police and barriers were deployed at the church entrances. Officers were seen pushing and hitting women and clerics, keeping them away from the building.
All Israeli measures aiming at undermining Christians’ free movement and unrestricted access to the Church of Sepulchre are unacceptable, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Haitham Abu Al Foul said.
Israel has to respect the legal and historic status of Al Quds and its holy places and stop all these measures at once, he added. (MENA)
