Japan deeply deplores the terrorist attack in Western Sinai, which caused many victims among Egyptian soldiers on May 7, a statement by Japanese Foreign Press Secretary Ono Hikariko said.
It added that Japan expresses its condolences to their families and extends its heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured.
“Acts of terrorism cannot be justified for any reason, and Japan firmly condemns terrorism in all its forms,” the statement said.
The Egyptian army announced on May 7 that 11 soldiers dead , including an officer, and 5 others wounded, after having “thwarted a terrorist attack” which targeted a water lifting point in west Sinai.
