RAMALLAH — Ground troops are pushing further into southern Lebanon and actively engaging enemy forces, Israel’s military chief has claimed.
Speaking during an operational assessment at a military border post on the Lebanese side of Mount Dov, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), stated that troops are continuing to move forward.
According to reports by the Times of Israel, Lt Gen Zamir asserted that Hezbollah has sustained “unprecedented cumulative damage”. He claimed this impact spans from thousands of its frontline armed personnel to top military commanders and their subsequent replacements.
The military chief made it clear that existing operational boundaries would not restrict upcoming campaigns, noting that the IDF’s forward defence line in the region does not limit its scope of action.
“Wherever we identify a threat and wherever we are required to remove a threat, we will act,” Lt Gen Zamir said. “Wherever there is an operational need to manoeuvre, we will manoeuvre.”
