Israel has suspended its planned operation to occupy Gaza City following a direct call from U.S. President Donald Trump urging an immediate halt to the bombing of Gaza.
The decision came shortly after the Hamas movement reportedly agreed to the terms of a prisoner exchange included in Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace proposal, unveiled earlier this week at the White House.
In a statement issued early Saturday and broadcast by Al Qahera News, the Israeli army confirmed that the political leadership had instructed forces “to reduce activity in Gaza to a minimum.”
Israeli sources indicated that negotiations to begin implementing Trump’s plan are expected to start soon, marking what could be the first step toward a broader ceasefire and the stabilization of the enclave after months of devastating conflict.
