BAGHDAD – President of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council Faeq Zeidan met Monday with UN Special Representative for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the judiciary’s role in tackling the political crisis in the country.
In a statement Sunday, the Supreme Judicial Council announced that it does not have the authority to dissolve parliament, adding that its main job is to deal with legal matters and it cannot interfere in the work of the legislative or executive authorities.
