BAGHDAD – Iraqi security forces on Saturday launched a new security operation to pursue the remnants of terrorist Daesh group in Hamrin Mountains.
The Iraqi army said in a statement that the troops carried out eight-pronged security operation in the area confined to Baghdad-Kirkuk road and Qara Tabbah road in Hamrin Mountains, Diyala, to pursue Daesh remnants, Al Ekhbariya channel reported.
It added the operation was launched in accordance with an intelligence tip-off to track Daesh cells that carried out crimes against civilians, adding that the Iraqi air force and the army’s aviation provided an air support to the participating forces in the operation.
