The head of Iran’s highest security authority has warned that Israel’s recent attack on southern Beirut will be met with an imminent reaction, saying “the response of the warriors of Islam is on the way.”
In remarks carried by Iranian media, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) described Lebanon as Iran’s “lifeblood” and stressed that “crossing the Islamic Republic’s red lines will not be tolerated.”
Tehran has consistently insisted that any agreement with the United States must also bring an end to the conflict in Lebanon, BBC reported. The exchange of strikes between Iran and Israel on 7–8 June marked the most significant escalation since the ceasefire that took effect on 8 April. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) launched attacks after Israeli strikes on Lebanon, prompting Israel to retaliate with strikes on Iran.
US President Donald Trump, meanwhile, told Fox News that he still expects a deal with Iran to be finalized “within the next two to three hours.” He shared the comment during a short interview with correspondent Trey Yingst, who reported the remarks live from Tel Aviv.
Trump said he spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following today’s strikes on Beirut. According to the correspondent, Trump showed clear frustration, bluntly questioning Netanyahu’s actions. Yingst added that Trump urged the prime minister to halt further strikes on Hezbollah to avoid jeopardizing progress on the deal.
